search-engine-optimization-for-dummies

Perhaps you were searching for a particular keyword and you saw a sub domain or a new blog competing with an old and authority blog for that particular keyword. The question that first come to your mind or every other webmaster are how come this is happening. Neither believe me, there are now tweak nor tricks for running the show , but the only trick is the one that has been hidden from you.

I know you are anxious now, but just relax. There is definitely a secret and strategies to use in other for you to be able to challenge authority blogs out there in search engine results.

Today I will share with you the known secrets on how you can make every of your blog posts show in each keyword related to your niche.

1. Write a unique blog posts/ contents

For your information, the journey of your blog post optimization starts from how well written and distinct your blog posts are. This is the major challenge most bloggers face, apart from the normal blog promotion activities.

Also Read: How to write a blog posts that Your readers Would Read

A blogger who doesn’t want to learn the habit of creating a quality content will never find a way out blogging industry. Successful bloggers have to keep their head straight in demand to what visitor want, which high quality contents.

Moreover, Google also love quality content more than quantity. If you’ve decided to publish one single article in a day and you are sure it’s a quality content, it’s far better than publishing 10 articles that aren’t compelling or engaging.

Therefore, your unique content will always caught Google eyes first and get index as fast as you can think of.

  2. Add “ALT” tag to your blog post images

I believe if you are a constant reader of this blog, you should have come across a post on adding tag to you blog posts. The issue here is that the “ALT” tag informs the search engine bots of the category in which your images falls.

The fact that bots cannot read images, which is why you need to tag it for proper categorization. For instance, if you upload an image and you did not add the ALT tag, bot/ search engine will not discover it but as soon as you add the ALT tag + keywords, search will discover it whenever such keyword is been search for, and this would help get more traffic to your blog.

3. Create Permalink for your blog post.

This has since been working for me; you need to take note that creating permalink for every blog post you write is very important, because this is a very good way for you to get good search result from the search engines.

The tweak behind creating this custom permalink is that you’ll set the permalink with your keyword, and this gives you more control over your blog posts and the blog itself.it provide more information to your visitor when your keywords are been shown from the search results.

  4. Use Optimized Blog title (H1- H3)

Header tags are very important when it comes to search engine optimization. A lot of people find it very difficult to get their posts to the first ten searches of the Google result because they couldn’t optimize their blog post title.

Also Read: How to make Post title appear before blog title

This is very essential in that it makes search engine bots to easily crawl and show your post in the keywords that best suit it. If you are a naive in the use of header tag, then let me give you an introduction to it before I make a post on it.

Normally, we use H1 tag for the blog title, H2 and H3 tags are used for blog post titles. But by default, blogger has already assign H3 tags to blog post title which is not too good for search engine query. Therefore, if you want to make your posts visible in search engines, simply change your H3 to H2.

5. Submit your blog to Google Webmaster

I believe this post is now becoming more interesting right? Because I’ve already given virtually everything you need to get your blog post optimized. But we don’t have to leave the services of the great webmasters (Google and Bing).

Blog post Images: How to increase the size and get royalty free images

blog-post-images

Good day ABC Readers, how are you doing? I believe you enjoyed my last post that I wrote on Harleena? If you haven’t read it, then I’ll advice you open it in a new tab and also read it after this post.

Read: How to get social media shares like pro’s- Harleena sighn as a case study

But today, I’m bringing yet another informative post. I’m sure some bloggers have written articles on it, but many bloggers are not taking it too serious as they should.

During the week days, I tried promoting my blog posts on thewriterssocial; this is also one of the happening blogging communities where you can submit your post and it’ll be shown in their home page for other writers to comment and like. After some few days that I’ve submitted a post, I got a private message from the admin suggesting to me that I should try and be using bigger images in other not to make my post lost on the platform.

Images they said speaks a thousand words in an article or post. Most times the image in your blog post gives your reader a very good reason to read the post. I noticed recently that Harleena uses images to pass across message to her followers on Facebook and which is a very good thing.

So what I’m I saying in essence is not only should you use larger images that have been use by many others, but to use images that are made only for you. Gbam!!!

I caught you right? There are some images that are called “Royalty free images”. I’ve you heard about them? They are images that have the license to be use freely. You don’t have to acknowledge the source like some bloggers do.

Thanks to a new friend that I met yesterday, he opened my eyes to so many things about using images on blog post. He taught me where to get free images that are not Google banked.

We all know what Google hold against people that uses other bloggers’ images? Sometimes ago, I wrote some few articles on images:

1. How to get backlink from images

2. How to watermarked your images

You can read them later.

These two posts were purposely written for those who steal images on Google image search, you need to read these to know the negative effects of plagiarism.

From my research, do you know that Google searches individual blog servers to see if there are copied contents, stolen images, and linked attached to images (acknowledgement)?

Oh! Now you know that. When Google bot finds out that the image on your post isn’t yours, and you have almost the same keywords with the original owner of the images, they rank you low and rank him high.

blog-post-imagesVictor ekpott my new friend is a prolific web designer and developer; he knows the root core of building websites. He is a different man with a distinct principle of life and an unshakable integrity. He has built websites for many top people here in Nigeria and also in abroad. You can connect him on Facebook and LinkedIn.

Now back to our main topic,

How do you make your image bigger?

There are situations whereby we upload images on our blogs and after we’ve publish them, we now realize that the images are smaller than the required speculation.

Now the situation here is how can you increase the size of your images from your HTML editor? Below I’ll be giving the steps by which you can increase the size of your images. This is particularly for those using blogger platforms.

1. Upload your desire image from your blogger post editor.

 2. After the images have appeared on the compose section of the blogger

3. Then click the HTML Button beside the compose button, then you’ll see the image codes

<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”>
<a href=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HmhJxzgtZGg/UrbB42tcjaI/AAAAAAAAAvA/DZVaErqSCXQ/s3200/social+media+share.jpg” imageanchor=”1″ style=”margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;”><img border=”0″ src=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HmhJxzgtZGg/UrbB42tcjaI/AAAAAAAAAvA/DZVaErqSCXQ/s3200/social+media+share.jpg” /></a></div>

<br />

 4. If it’s less than s1600, multiply the figure by 2. And if its s1600, then I think it’s of average size. You can increase it or leave it as well.

5. After this, you should switch back to the compose mode and your images will have been bigger.

Note: it sound great when you do all this sizing and so, but the best option is to get images that I’ve already gotten the right sizes and it has the rightful license to be used.

Like I said early, Google images are dangerous to use in the sense that lots of bloggers are attached to one or two images on Google, but on the image sites am about to share below, you can be a rightful owner of some images.

How do you get those royalty free images?

Google has lately implemented a new system where by all blog servers are been checked to know those that are using rightfully assigned images on their blog.

This new system reduces the rank of such blogs. I think I made a very good illustration from my earlier points in this post.

So the question now is how can you get the royalty free images?

During the course of my research on this post, I met a new friend Victor we discussed at length and he shared some sites where I can get royalty free images that already got the license to be used.

So I thought it’s very wise to share these sites with my friends and readers, so that you can stop using Google images and start using creative images on your blog post. Below are the lists of those image sites

  Gettyimages

Thinkstock

Jupiterimages

 PunchStock

 WireImage

FilmMagic

 Photos.com

The magic with these sites is that once you register with Gettyimages, you can automatically use other sites with the same username and password of gettyimages. Cool right?

  Now Over to you

Have you been so mindful of the size, quality and creativity of images you use? Are you still using Google images? Whichever ways you get the images on your post, let us know through the comment box. If you also have other sites where one can get royalty free images for post-production, don’t hesitate to share with us.

I believe you’ve added one or two knowledge from this post, please help share this post with your friends on social media. You can always use our social media button to share the post across the social media platform…. Remember to like this post. Thanks

Google Pagerank: Updated On 6th Dec, 2013

It’s finally here, the long awaited time for bloggers to know how well they have followed the stipulated rules by matt cutts. Few months ago, I wrote an article on when is the next google page rank update. Which actually got people shifted from their slumber.

Moreover, we’ve been expecting the update way far back but Matt decided to show his superiority and brought out the update on the 6th of December, 2013. The time when nobody was excepting the page rank update. The last update actually took place on the 4th of Feb, 2013 and Google kept mute on why they’ve not updated till today.

According to a tweet I got on frank’s blog,

@NielsBoschh asked Matt Cutts, Google’s head of search spam, if there would be a pageRank update before 2014 and Math Cutts said”I would be surprised if that happened”

I believed from this conversation between NeilBoschh and Matt, Matt actually shocked everybody because no one expects any PR update again this year. Well when I heard the news on Facebook, I rushed to make some enquires, checked for my own page rank. Though I wasn’t expecting much because the domain name is still very new.

 Advice to blogspot bloggers:

I will advise any aspiring blogger who wants to build a successful blog should get a domain name even before he /she starts operating the blog. You know why? If you blog with a subdomain ( blogspot.com) for 1 year, and unfortunately you couldn’t get the same domain for the existing one, then in Google’s sense, you are just starting blogging afresh.

Back to our discussion, I believe the joy of it is that when each and every one of you check your new page rank, that you should have been move forward. But the truth is that, either of these two things has to happen. Either you get lifted, or demoted. I actually sneaked on to check some of my friend’s blog and I notices that many blogs were a step backward, some were stagnant while some were upgrade.

For all of us blogger, we shouldn’t be dismay with this update because it’s not the true measure of your ability and stuffs you carry. But you have to wait for the next update which will take place next year, 2014.

How to get your PR increase

3. Answering questions on Yahoo answers.

I believe we have more than just three, but I just gave the basis for those who knew nothing about improving page rank. In case, for those new bloggers who doesn’t know what page rank is.

How to Get your blog posts Indexed Very Fast on Google Search

index-your-blog-posts

Today, I was chatting with one of my students and he told me about how he makes his money online, but he now mentioned that the post he wrote on how to make money online has not yet been indexed by Google. I was surprised when he said that because he wrote the blog post 27th of August, so I was wondering what went wrong.

Content is only a king when people find it both on Google search or social media platforms. It’s kind of frustrating if you noticed that your blog posts haven’t been index by Google, which means you will be missing some great traffic, search engine ranking etc. I believe this is a common challenge new bloggers encounter.

Also Read:How to submit and verify Your Blog with Bing Webmaster tool

I remember I had such a challenge too when I started off as a newbie. A friend of mine thought me this trick i’m about to share with you, on how to get your blog posts index within 5 minutes, so therefore you have to pay attention to get every step i’ll be giving.

This tip is very good for those that published a post that’ll be expiring in the next few days. For example, a popular blog brought a contest that’ll just last for 2 days and you need to get it across to people within the limited days. we all know that after those 2 days, the information about the contest is no more useful as it would have been out dated.

So for you to get the post index in a twinkle of an eye, you have to take some freaky steps. *wink*! It’s not a crooked tips anyway, but a faster way. Therefore, if you have such blog that experiences late indexing by Google, then the tips I’m about to share with you suit your case.

The funny aspect of it is that, all the tips to make Google index your post very fast will be done right on Google webmaster dashboard. And if you’ve not signed up on Google webmaster, then you can do that below.

https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en

You can as well learn how to submit your sitemap to Google in the link below

Also Read: Fastest way to submit Your Blog Sitemap to Google Webmaster tool

But for those who are already there, let continue with our tutorial. Now, the Fetch as Google option on your Google webmaster tool will be use. Do you know why? Because it will makes Google bots to quickly craw your new post and get it indexed.

NOTE: Lately, Google has place a limiting factor on this tips in that you have the number of times you can use the features in a month. Each webmaster is limited to around 450-500 fetches per month, I thinks this is a great limitation right?

Now fasten your belt and let’s get down to business.

1. Now login to your webmaster tool, and go to your site. Like a said earlier, if you haven’t register your blog on webmaster, you can follow the link given above to do so.

2. After you’ve signed in, go to “Fetch as Google” which is located under the “crawl arrow”

fetch-as-google

3. Then a small URL box will appear, carrying your blog address. Then enter your blog or post URL in the input box and click on FETCH.

fetch-input-box

You need to wait for some few second until Google bring the fetch status, and if successful, click the submit button to index the link post.

submit-box

Note: if you check the input box very well, you’ll notice that your blog URL has already been written to half, therefore your own duty is just to the post’s URL from where the blog address ends on the webmaster tool.

Now after you might have followed the above steps wait for few minutes and proceed to Google search and check the indexed post by inputting “Site:submitted URL” into the search field.

When you do this, it now depends on how busy the Google bot is to make your blog appear in the search engine.

I believe you’ve actually learn one or two things in this post today? Therefore, it will be so wonderful if you share this post with your friends on Facebook, twitter, your blog communities, pinterest, dig etc.

How to Drive Traffic to Your Blogger Blogs by Using image tag

image-tag

Good day ABC Readers, how have you been doing? I actually had a challenge today and it was resolve, so I thought I should share it with you. I wouldn’t even call it a challenge anyway, because I was once ignorant of it but now I know better.

This is actually about tagging your images on your blogs to generate traffic. I was trying to analyze my blog, which I often do occasionally. It’s good to analyze your blog often so that you can know the health status. The result that was brought to me from the analysis report showed that I have some images which are not tagged on my blog, and I need to correct it.

For the purpose of those who are lost with this word “Image tagging”, I’ll try and do justice to that before I proceed to the main issue.

  What is Image Tag?

A tag can be define as a simple HTML code used by blogger to tell the search robots what your images are all about. What do I mean by this? It happened that search bots don’t recognize images, therefore you need to use words to describe your images.

This particular tag is quite different from the way tags are been use on photos in Facebook. In this sense of image tag, you must be very careful of the words you use because rich keywords must be use, to generate traffic back to your blog.

An example of a simple image HTML code is shown below:

                      <Img Src=”Image Link”/>

Looking at this code, it’s very important because anywhere this code is integrated in your template images are expected to be seen. Therefore, when search robots scan your contents and they come across your image HTML code, the search robot won’t be able to recognize if the image is for blogging or sport.

So therefore, for bots to recognize your image details, alt tag must be added so as to catergorize, described and indexed your images. The Tag tells google the purpose of the images on the blog.

                 <img Src=”image Link”alt=”Blogging tips”/>

From the above link, the alt tag is telling the search bots that the image in question is about blogging tips. Though it’s always advisable to use just two-three keywords to describe the image.

However, the image tag has been dealt with. But have you heard about optimization? I mean optimized image tag? Funny right… the fact that you’ve added the alt tag to your images or photo won’t make it optimized for search engine. You just have to keep the following tips I’m about to discuss below in mind.

1. Don’t write full sentence to describe your images
2. Keep description limited to 4 words or less.
 3. Don’t tag your images with senseless words.
4. Tag the image with normal English words, not special words.

How to add alt Tag to your images

It’s of paramount importance that whenever you upload images on your post editor, switch to the edit HTML code so that you will be able to get the image code to be tag. When you upload any image, the image code is often looking like the one below.

<a href=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jUYmL7ZtWPg/Upa42XAJ26I/AAAAAAAAArk/V-DvqZ_Ci8g/s1600/blog.jpg” imageanchor=”1″ style=”margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;”><img border=”0″ src=“http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jUYmL7ZtWPg/Upa42XAJ26I/AAAAAAAAArk/V-DvqZ_Ci8g/s1600/blog.jpg” /></a></div>

<br />

Guess you’ve seen the code right? From the above code, this is actually what you got from trying to upload your image on your post editor. And the image code is the one starting with <img with a green text fill.

<a href=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jUYmL7ZtWPg/Upa42XAJ26I/AAAAAAAAArk/V-DvqZ_Ci8g/s1600/blog.jpg” imageanchor=”1″ style=”margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;”><img alt=”IMAGE DESCRIPTION”  border=”0″src=“http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jUYmL7ZtWPg/Upa42XAJ26I/AAAAAAAAArk/V-DvqZ_Ci8g/s1600/blog.jpg” /></a></div>

Over to You

Have you been tagging your images on blogger blog? Or you are just seeing this for the first time?

I believe this post has meet your need and you might some of your friends to know about this, kindly share the post on social media and your comment is highly welcome.

3 Effective SEO basics to turn your images into backlinks

seo-basics-of-images

Hello readers, how have you been? It’s been a hard ride today, I actually went on a date. It was great I must say. Today I brought something very interesting for you. I remember In my last post I talked about how you can make you post title appear before your blog.

Also Read: How to optimize your images for Search engines

I believe we’ve all made that proper correction? Note to take much of your time, I’ve actually talked about how important backlinks are on this blog, I remember I talked about how you can get backlink with Facebook and how you can get backlink with forums, these are all text based links. But today, I want to talk about how you can SEO your images and turn them to backlinks for your sites. Hmm! Interesting right?

Also Read: Watermarking, the best way to protect your images

Guess we only talked about images in search engine performance aspect. But to be candid, images can do more than what you guys think, images are great for landing organic traffics, and it’s also great when it comes to getting you backlinks. Just sit back and let’s discuss how images can get you great backlinks for your blog.

  Image Directories

Did you notice this? Lately bloggers have started cultivating the habits of getting their blog images from image directories. Do you know why? Because they’ve discovered the secret of getting backlink links from image directories.

Therefore, both the new bloggers and those old bloggers who have not tested this should go try it and you’ll never regret it. You can always get backlinks from image directories, whether you into photography or you an artist.

We have so many directories online and therefore even if you aren’t that perfect as graphic designer, you can always get people to do the image job for you on fiverr where you pay for job done.

Examples of some online image directories are listed below

 • http://www.istockphoto.com/ (Stock Photography)
• http://www.iconfinder.com/ (Icons)
• http://www.iconarchive.com/ (Icons)
• http://openclipart.org/ (Clipart)
• http://www.corbisimages.com/ (Stock Photography)

For you getting a backlink or two, you need to upload you icon or images in an archive on your blog, and then you make these website know you have all it takes for the work. Then you have a better chance of getting selected if the icons you’ve created are of use to them.

Always make sure you check the “popular” section to know which images are leading the trend… I mean hot. Therefore, on most sites you can always make the license to be free, I mean for them to get the images, and in this case you’ll get a link to your own credit as the author of the images.

Guess that is interesting right? And this is exactly how you get backlink to your blog. However, whenever someone is in need of either your images or icons, he/she get you link which at the same time will be a source of traffic for you, not to mention a high quality backlink you are going to get especially from a high PR blog/site. I believed in a simple way you’ve understand the principle behind getting backlink from image directories?

  Creation of Infographic

Infographics has been one of the best methods to get a quality backlinks because of its unique nature. But in this very own, it’s not that easy compare to image directories in that for you t get backlinks from authority sites like NYTimes, Punch and maybe Business insider etc are always very difficult. Such websites on a normal keep dumb hear to request, but you just throw in a quality infographic and you can smoothly easy the deal.

Also read: Learn From the power of Infographics

Such websites value quality info graphic that provide active information for visitors, and therefore they tend to accept your request when you use infographic as bait.

I think I’ve given a good lead to creating infographics, therefore you should be thinking of creating yours, it’s necessary for you to know that we have many tools available that let you create your own infographic at ease. One of a good tool I’ll recommend is Visual.Iy. learn more about to use it and in no time, you will become a guru.

  Image Search

There are lots of bloggers out there, who were found with the habit of just copying and pasting pictures they saw on blogs that got them attracted. Such people like this even find it difficult to acknowledge the image source. I believe once or twice it might have happened to you, don’t panic because it’s a great route to get a backlink.

Therefore, for you to search out the image, you’ll right clicked on the image on your website, and the you copy the URL of the image. You now go straight to the google image search and click on the small image icon on the right side of the bar (search bar). It will give you the room to search with an image. Then this time, you will now paste the image URL, and press the enter button.

After few sec, all the search result of the websites that have used your images will be listed. If you care to know or probably you have the time, you can check for those of the site who has given you an attribution link, and if not, you can contact them.

In just my little way, I believe I have dealt with getting backlinks from your images? If you have gained from this post, make sure you share with your friends on social media, and your opinion is needed vial the comment box.
