How to start a blogging career

Blogging is one of the most impressive and online money generating careers.

Why is that?

That is because it is not a location-specific business. In other words, you can work from anywhere at your convenience.

Blogging is a lucrative career as you can earn up to 5 times more than your regular job.

Do you believe that? Yes, it’s possible.

Blogging possess huge potential to make you real money, I mean, you can drive in huge sums as profits into your bank account if you know your way around it – I’m not going to leave you without a reason;

The advantage blogging holds compared to other professions or careers is that it can be monetized in numerous ways.

Its monetization methods range from running ads, affiliate marketing to selling merchandise.

Don’t get too excited. As much as blogging can be a lucrative career, it requires going through certain processes. That’s why I have taken my time to come up with this article on how to start a blogging career.

I bet you are going to be shocked after reading through this.

Without much ado with words, let’s take a brief overview of what a blog is.

What Is A Blog?

Many people have their different definitions of what a blog is. But for a better understanding, let’s look at a blog from this aspect;

A blog is an online space dedicated to an individual. The online space dedicated to the store to an individual is to aid him or her in getting his/her works or other information published so as to reach out to a large audience.

That’s kind of a long definition there, but I’m sure it’s understandable.

A blog in a sense, is website-like. As you read further you will get to understand the concept.

What does a blog do?

Aside from making a lot of money as a blog owner, there are several advantages of a blog.

Here, let’s take a look at a few of them:

  1. A blog serves as a medium through which information is transferred. As the information is being transferred, the recipients of the information get educated. So, it isn’t out of place to say that a blog is a means of educating people.
  2. A blog is a medium that helps you to share your life experiences. You get to tell people of your day-to-day operations, and of course, on a friendly note.
  3. A blog aids advertisement. Precisely, it helps to create awareness. This is mostly best for someone who offers one or two services online, it increases your reach, thereby enhancing your visibility to drive in more customers for your business.

Who is A Blogger?

You might have heard a lot of people mention this on several occasions, and it sounded so new and strange to you. Before we delve into the main stuff, let me quickly tell you who a blogger is;

A blogger is someone who owns a blog. Like seriously, what type of explanation is this? It’s really simple.

The moment you get to own a blog of your own, you become a blogger. You can also see a blogger as someone who shares his/her life experiences with people, teaches, etcetera through the internet.

Things to Know When Starting a Blogging Career

Making money online has now become the order of the day. It’s not a bad thing though, that’s where the money is now, and believe me, there’s a lot of money to be made from blogging.

Like I mentioned earlier, don’t get too excited.

Blogging provides a lot of opportunities to make money online.

At some point you may even consider putting all your focus on it, and making it a full time thing.

It isn’t that part time blogging is a bad thing, it’s cool, that’s if you are doing something. And let me enlighten you, many people have quit their jobs just to explore blogging. Also a lot of people have made it big even as a part time blogger.

Before I tell you how to start a blogging career, there are things which are necessary, and you must know:

  • Blogging demands patience
  • Avoid shiny object syndrome (SOS)
  • Consistency is required
  • Ability to learn and adapt
  • Make blogging a business
  • Be ready to invest
  1. Blogging demands patience

When starting a career in blogging, you should have this consciousness that blogging is not a get rich quick scheme, it requires a lot of time to get the desired results.

No real Business in this world is a get rich quick thing – this is not a Ponzi Scheme. Thus, for you to have a successful blogging career you must be patient.

On your blogging journey, you are going to face numerous challenges, only with patience will you keep your head up and strong. If you can’t do this, don’t bother going into blogging – it’s not your thing.

  1. Avoid shiny object syndrome (SOS)

Shiny object syndrome (SOS) is one of the most common problems in blogging – a lot of bloggers have complicated their blogging career because of this, and a whole lot of them have failed.

What exactly do you call shiny object syndrome? I will tell you.

You say a blogger has a shiny object syndrome when she/he finds a new or perhaps an interesting niche and tends to move to that instead and sticking with whatever he had initially.

A good example is when you see a blogger making a huge profit from his fitness blog due to his high traffic in the fitness niche, and without even having another thought, you shift to that niche. Let’s say after sometime you realized blogging on fitness isn’t working for you, you jump into a different niche. On and on this continues.

This does not only distract you from achieving your blogging goals but jeopardizes your Blogging Career in the long run.

Any blogger doing this is a wanderer.

  1. Consistency Is Required

Finding a niche for blogging and expecting a good result after writing just a few articles is not enough to make a career in blogging.

To attain success in blogging, you need to maintain steady writing and publishing of  good contents for your readers. This does not mean you write every day or post everyday, however it’s great if you can.

To solve the issue of inconsistency, you can make a schedule for publishing your contents, it could be publishing once in a week, or two contents per week, however, it has to be consistent so that your readers will Know when you are publishing and wait for your post.

Not publishing contents regularly can cause a great harm to your blog as it affects your content reach.

  1. Ability to Learn And Adapt

Blogging is all about learning new things, continuously improving yourself, and relearning whatever you have learnt.

So, If you are a kind of person that’s not willing to learn more things or develop more skills, you may find blogging difficult.

Should I still give you a reason?

This is because you need to learn writing skills, copywriting, SEO, marketing and many others. If you are not willing to learn these things and develop yourself, how are you going to go about it?

Aside from this, the world keeps evolving daily and you need to stay updated with the latest happenings in the blogging industry.

Many have failed due to their unwillingness to learn. In essence, a blogging career is for those that are open to learning new skills and adapting them.

  1. Make blogging A Business

You may have started blogging as a part time thing or just as a hobby to have a side income. Now you are choosing blogging as a career.

Do you understand what you are about to get yourself into?

This means that blogging will become the source of your bread and butter. You should not take it lightly – I’m sure a reasonable person wouldn’t take chances.

What am I trying to say?

Blogging is a business, it goes beyond just a hobby thing. You can call it a hobby, if you want to go into it part time – no qualms.

By doing this – that’s considering it to be a business – it will help you to stay focused, and determined about blogging.

This is why some bloggers fail because they see that there isn’t much attached to choosing blogging as a career.

  1. Be Ready To Invest

At the mention of this, you must have a rethink. Smiles!

Starting a blogging career just like every other business requires an initial investment to start. But this shouldn’t bother you.

Why should it? You are not going to be the first person starting a career in blogging, and you are not going to be the last.

If others can, then you can too. However, you should really put some thoughts into this, if you think you would not be able to handle it, back off.

You may think I am trying to discourage you, no, backing off would do you some good if you are sure you would not be able to handle it and frustration is one of them.

5 Simple Steps to Becoming a Blogger.

Since I mentioned that there are certain processes you have to follow, then there are. You can’t just jump into living your blogging career.

What do you do? I will help you, continue reading.

Now we will look at how to set-up a blog.

Here are the five main steps you need to follow to start a blog. If you follow it correctly you will have your own blog in less than an hour.

  1. Select a great blog platform.
  2. Choose a web host for your blog.
  3. Setting up the blog on your domain.
  4. Design the new blog.
  5. Make use of the useful resources for blogging.

Without further delay, I will give you a detailed explanation of these bullet points.

  1. Select A great platform for your blog

Choosing a blogging platform is pretty much the first thing to do.

Blogging platforms are numerous, they include Tumblr, WordPress, blogger, wix, and many more.

I will recommend you begin with WordPress.

Why?

It’s one of the biggest blogging platforms in the world. It’s really massive with countless plugins and add-ons with numerous ways to design the layout of your blog.

Putting aside its unnumbered features, WordPress is the easiest platform to use in setting up your blog.

It’s believed that there are over eighty two million users of WordPress alone, this is huge.

However, there are other alternatives to WordPress, check below:

  • Blogger-The Best thing next to WordPress.

  • Tumblr- Tumblr is a blogging & social media tool and it is very easy to use.

Aside from WordPress being the biggest of all the other platforms, there are other unique qualities of WordPress which are listed below.

  1. It’s absolutely easy to set up and free to use.
  2. It has numerous themes and layouts
  3. It provides a massive support forum
  4. Your blog will be extremely fast and form perfectly.
  5. It helps people to interact with you easily, share your content and even comment on your blog.

Awesome, right?

  1. Choose A web host For Your Blog

This is one of the biggest decisions you have to make. This is either to pay for your blog or grab a free one.

WordPress, Tumblr, blogger and other platforms offer free hosting and domain for blogs for anyone. That’s awesome right? But opting for a free hosting is only perfect for those that are not super serious about blogging.

Why do you say that? Won’t it save me some money?

I said that because free hosting and domain has several downsides to it.

Let me throw more light on this.

There will be limits to free blogs. You can’t totally monetize it and you won’t have the opportunity to upload all your desired videos and photos – This is irritating.

To make it worse, you won’t have access to free themes offered by WordPress.

If you are serious about how to start a blogging career, free hosting and domain are not what you should consider.

Let me tell you some other things that comes with a free hosting and domain, that can affect your blogging career:

  • You Do Not Own the Blog if You Choose a Free Hosting

This may look strange, But Yes, You do not actually own the blog – on the surface, it may look like you are, but behind the scenes, you aren’t. This is because it’s hosted on another person’s web Property and it can be deleted anytime.

This is risky as you may lose your blog within seconds, after many years of investment.

On the other hand, self hosted with your own domain name, this allows you to become the real owner of your blog and give it whatever name you want, for example “YourName.com”.

You can add any web suffix such as .co.uk,.net, .org. You can also add numerous bandwidth for videos, content, and images plus the free themes you have a nice combo.

There are many web hosting companies which include hostinger, bluehost, dreamhost, Hostgator, etcetera.

Bluehost and hostinger remain the best hosts for beginners if you desire a paid host.

  1. Set Up The blog On your Domain

We are going to move further on the assumption that you have chosen WordPress. If you have not done that, you should, it’s absolutely the best.

Let’s check out this concepts before we proceed:

  • Domain

This is the URL of your website, For example iamyours.com. URL is the abbreviation for Uniform Resource Locator.

  • Hosting

Host or hosting provides you with space to put your website on the internet so everyone can see it. Everything will be saved there, It’s just like a hard drive on the internet that saves all the information.

Having gotten the basic knowledge on both terms, the next thing is to install WordPress on your website.

After doing that? Congratulations! You are now on the track to becoming a part time or full time blogger.

  1. Design Your WordPress Blog

Now that you own A Blog, it’s time you give it the exact look you admire.

How can you do this? You give your website a better look by using a theme.

There are several themes available on WordPress for you, you just have to choose one.

To choose a new theme you can head to appearance on your Wp-admin dashboard, click on select themes, and install a free WordPress theme. You can choose to purchase premium themes if you have the money – premium themes are the best in a sense.

Usually you are to choose something that is professional and easy to customize. It’s important your theme reflects your personality and what your blog is all about.

5.Make Use of Useful Resources

Bloggers have different views due to different experiences from social media.

To have a successful blogging career you have to avoid newbies mistakes, it may be changing of niche regularly.

So newbies are to engage in serious research about SEO tactics and promotional methods to enrich the blog and readers.

You can enrich your audience by publishing quality contents, photos, comments and establishing a social media presence.

Publishing of contents is the most important part of a blog because the audience will not be attracted to your blog if there are no enriched contents there.

Comment sections also allow you to get feedback from your audience, it’s one strategy for growth. Building an online presence gives you more audience, in recent times social media is now a Medium to attract viewers.

Putting all these together will allow you to become a successful blogger.

Conclusion

THE BENEFITS OF A BLOG

Almost everything that has advantages has disadvantages, but when the advantages of a thing outweigh the disadvantages, then it becomes insignificant, which is why I will not discuss the disadvantages of a blog, because I honestly don’t. Well, other than the usual new blog content can always make you nervous.

The benefits of blogging or benefits of a blog cannot be overstated. The biggest benefit I see is that blogging gives people, everyone, equally rich and poor, an equal opportunity to be in the online world and write freely about their opinions, feelings, and reflections on a variety of topics and topics. And they actually have people all over the world

Read! benefits of a blog

I consider myself an example. I love to express myself and writing gives me the opportunity to do it effectively. I always wanted a medium where I could write my content and have a lot of people read it, so I wrote some articles about MLM and published them in a National newspaper (Business Standard Newspaper) in Nigeria

. But you will agree with me that it’s limited. With a website, I could target the world. But since I don’t have any web design skills, the truth is that I have to pay for the services and it could currently cost me 78,000 N or more ($ 170 or more) Wow! It’s money.

Can you imagine how I felt when I realized I could make my dream come true using a blog without spending a single trifle!

BLOGS ARE EASY AND CHEAP TO SET UP

Creating a blog can only take 10 minutes and requires only three simple steps (select your blog blog, register your account, and start blogging). After setting up a blog, you just need to provide as much content as possible on a regular basis.

You don’t have to spend a dime to set up your blog because free versions are available, but for a profitable blog, using WordPress with a host is recommended.

This blog will soon teach you how to create a blog hosted on WordPress. A WordPress blog is hosted on a server basis and requires you to get a domain name (maximum $ 10) and a hosting service (it can get less than $ 10).

You can get Alvin Phang’s book, Atomic Blogging 3.0 which contains everything you need to know about creating a profitable and professional WordPress blog. Visit my blog to learn more about Atomic Blogging 3.0

BLOGS ARE TAILORED TO SEARCH ENGINES

This advantage of blogging is one of the reasons why I love blogging. Your publications and pages are automatically linked by blogs and which allows search engine spiders to find, explore and index the blog.

With relevant keywords in your blog title, META tags, and URL pages, you can rank your pages better in search engines. Which means that when someone types their keywords into search engines, their page could be among the first lists displayed, and my friend could be associated with a lot of free traffic to their blog!

BLOGS ATTRACT MORE TRAFFIC FOR YOUR NEW CONTENT

Readers are drawn to blogging because of regular new content and if you are an enthusiastic blogger who craves more about what he writes and is committed to providing new and regular content, thousands of people who are also passionate about this topic will visit his blog regularly, and if you continue to update it regularly with new content, you will be notified.

BLOGS CREATE SPACE FOR THE ONLINE COMMUNITY

The built-in comment feed on the blog allows readers to share their opinions on your site and get started discussions on various topics.

Once you have reviewers who provide good information, tips, and advice, you can create unique relevant content from it, and most importantly, keep driving because they will continue to receive updates on a variety of topics.

BLOGS HAVE AN INTEGRATED RSS FEED

RSS, which means Really Simple Syndication combine recent articles and submit them to several blog search engines and when your readers subscribe to your RSS feed, it automatically sends recent messages to your mails.

Some Advantages Of A Blog From An Organizational Point Of View Are:

Blogs allow companies to keep their customers informed. They can publish news about new products, policies and available features and have them in front of their customers in minutes, instead of having to send a weekly or monthly newsletter.

It helps organizations

However, I believed you still have more benefits of a blog looming inside of you that’ll love to share with other readers, please don’t hesitate to use the comment section as people are waiting for your opinions there.

Do You Feel Comfortable Letting Readers Brag about Your Blog?

I read a 5 star review of one of my 100 plus eBooks a few moments ago.

I re-read the review.

How does it feel to have readers brag about you? Good? Bad? Why?

Do you feel comfortable letting readers brag about your blog?

As I scanned reviews for my eBook: 11 Proven Tips for Aspiring Bloggers

I came across a dandy and posted the review word for word to my Facebook Page because I felt good doing so. Why not allow people to brag about me? Happy readers drive increased business through my eBook income stream.

A few years ago, I lived a different story. I flat out ignored positive reader reviews. Why? I believed I did not genuinely deserve glowing reviews. I also felt a little embarrassed to get 5 star reviews because I felt I was no one special. Of course, these limiting beliefs held back eBook sales because if you give little attention and energy to folks who love what you do, few folks love what you do.

I did wake up though. Now I promote my eBooks and 5 star reviews freely on social media, on my blog and through videos. Naturally, eBook sales continue to rise because if you promote people’s glowing endorsements you connect with more folks who love what you do and buy your eBook.

Where Your Energy Goes Grows

Where your attention and energy goes, grows.

Give your energy to folks who love your work. Promote their reviews. Allow these loyal fans to brag about your blog. Succeed.

ALSO READ: 1 Time Saving Tip for Busy Bloggers

But most bloggers move in the opposite direction because most bloggers feel highly uncomfortable allowing readers to brag about them. Bloggers either hate the spotlight or feel non-deserving of success, shun publicity, never promote 5 star reviews and struggle to succeed because said bloggers do not give their attention and energy to people who love what they do. By default, these bloggers fail simply because they give their energy to struggle, not success.

Get Comfortable with Receiving Success

Get comfortable with receiving blogging success. See more success.

Allow people to brag about you and to shout out your blogging skills. Even if it feels a bit uncomfortable at first, feeling good about positive reviews and promoting endorsements helps you get clear on your products and services. From there, things get easier in terms of driving traffic and making money blogging because each fan is a brand advocate and every positive review is a money maker.

People love buying based on word of mouth marketing. Imagine being an aspiring blogger who sees this 5 star review for the above eBook?

“All because of this book, I was up at 4AM brain-dumping ideas the other night. And that hasn’t happened for me in a long, long while.

If you blog, you need this book! It just frees you of so many blogging worries. (At least it did for me.)

Sure, everybody tells you to become a writing machine. Make writing a habit. But Ryan actually tells you how to do it. And it flat out works. Ryan gives you his own schedule. Helps you figure out why you write and makes it fun and freeing. Helps you ignore useless criticism and really write for yourself.

I wish I’d known before what he says in chapter 9 about branding. Would’ve saved me many hours and a lot of my money.”

Do you see what I mean? My eBook title and summary seemed helpful but reading a verified buyer’s glowing, genuine take on my eBook inspires you to buy the thing. He tells you to buy it because the eBook frees you of blogging worries. Hmmmm…is it worth about 7 bucks to be free of blogging worries? I believe so. Especially if an established blogger shares his honest thoughts to verify the eBook reduces your blogging anxiety.

Why do you know about this positive review?

I promoted the reader’s 5 star take explicitly via this guest post.

Let your readers brag about you and do not be shy promoting their positive reviews.

Multiply your success by being comfortable with promoting your loyal fan’s endorsments of your work.

4 Tips to Be a Smarter Blogger [updated]

Smart bloggers rule the roost in their niche.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get this memo nearly 10 years ago.

I was a blogging dingbat, doing insane stuff like posting to my collective blogs 60 times a day.

This thin, wispy content did little for me. I wasn’t leveraging, I wasn’t building relationships and I sure wasn’t following smart blogging advice.

Fast forward 10 years. I blog from a more intelligent, helpful, clear space and success seems to find me with increasing ease.

You will easily cut months and even years off of your blogging learning curve if you do things from a smart, effective space.

Follow these tips to become a smarter blogger.

 1: Learn from Smart Bloggers

I did some dingbatish things as a newbie blogger because I didn’t follow successful bloggers.

When I smartened up I learned from smart, successful bloggers how to practice blogging, how to create helpful content, how to build my blogger friend network and how to monetize my blog effectively.

 Learn from smart bloggers.

Cut your learning curve by years.

2: Make Your Day all about Leveraging

The smartest bloggers leverage the stuffing out of their presence.

Effective blog commenting and guest posting are 2 awesome ways to leverage your presence quickly.

Example; a few minutes before writing this post, Asaolu asked if I had written him a guestie. I obliged immediately because writing this post leverages my presence, aiding me in helping his reader network.

Writing 3-4 paragraph long, personalized comments has the same effect. Imagine wowing the socks off of some 100, 200 or even 1,000 readers in Darren Rowse’s 300,000 member Pro Blogger community?

That means steady blog traffic for you.

Intend to make an impact with every single act.

If you write 6 posts a week, place 2 on your blog and 4 on other blogs as guest posts.

 Be smart.

 Leverage your presence.

 3: Promote other Bloggers Freely

The most intelligent way to blog is to build your friend network by promoting other bloggers freely.

Doing so helps you build friendships which bring you immense rewards.

Example; after I promote a fellow blogger through Twitter or Facebook for a few times the individual is likely to retweet or Facebook Share my post too, as the friendship develops.

This means that as I am sleeping in New Jersey, my blogging buddies in India and Nigeria and Pakistan are sharing my content with their friend networks, expanding my reach far and wide, in quite passive fashion for me.

Attempting to do everything on my own, promotion-wise, would be unintelligent. I’d be up creating and promoting my stuff until 3 AM and would eventually burn out.

Go the smart route. Promote other bloggers freely. Make friends. Watch your presence expand exponentially as your blogging network grows.

 4: Work on Your Mindset

If you blog from a place of fear you will do cowardly, flat out dumb, things.

I saw 80 spam comments on my blog this morning. Each of these bloggers – or each of these blogger’s hired guns – is making a stupid, boneheaded mistake, blogging like a dingbat.

If these folks sat with their fear of losing traffic or wasting time the fear energy would vanish and they’d spend their time creating value, building bonds through effective blog commenting and guest posting and you betcha they would succeed.

 Work on your mindset.

Meditate. Pray. Do yoga. Whatever helps you face and embrace your fears, do it, so you can blog intelligently, with love.

5. Move to self-hosted WordPress

if you haven’t already. Yes, you’ll be able to build a well-liked blog on WordPress.com or Blogger.com, however there are innumerable reasons to move your blog to your own host, together with having more management and looking more skilled.

6. Build your email list.

First, attract the proper reasonably traffic to your blog. Then impress them along with your savvy, knowledgeableness and generosity, and guess what? They’ll subscribe.

3 Clear Words to Increase Your Blogging Income

3 words pop up in my mind.

Every time I ponder my blogging income problems from the past I think of these 3 words.

Struggling bloggers should dwell on these 3 words.

blogging income

The 3 words boost your blogging income. If you believe in the phrase.

Are you ready for the delightful trio?

“It’s only money.”

3 Words for Bigger Profits

I tweeted the product page for my blogging audio course 5 minutes ago. I tweeted the same sales page twice prior today.

Why?

It’s only money.

Meaning I offer the course via a means of exchange called “money”.

Bloggers feel uncomfortable promoting business products or services once, twice or 3 times daily. Some see sharing product pages as spamming. Others believe sharing business pages feels pushy or maybe is a bit too much promoting for their tastes, but only because they have a negative idea of money.

The few bloggers who see money as only money – nothing more, no big deal – promote their premium offerings freely, get clear on their offerings and increase their blogging income over the long term.

Fear

Bloggers fear promoting products and services because bloggers cling to fears regarding money. Every fear regarding money is untrue because money is just money. Money is only money. Money is not scarce. Money is not limited. Money is just a means of exchange.

Knowing this, you immediately take the negative, fear-based charge out of money. You have every right to share something helpful in return for a means of exchange called “money”.

You have an important duty though; face, own, embrace, feel and release money-related fears that add a negative charge to your premium offerings. Most bloggers experience a sort of heaviness when promoting premium offerings because most bloggers give a powerful meaning to money. Money is not powerful, nor is it scarce. It is just money. Neutral. No big deal.

Taking this blase attitude about money inspires you to promote both your free content and premium offerings generously because when you see money as only being a neutral means of exchange you get clear on your premium offerings, promote these products and services freely and increase your sales through your newly established clarity.

Meanwhile, bloggers who feel awkward or uncomfortable around money tend to pull back on promoting their products and services, and as you hold back, it is held back from you, as the good book says.

Not me.

If anyone has issues with me promoting my premium stuff, it has all to do with their fear around money and nothing to do with me and my pretty detached feeling about money.

Remember; it’s only money.

The more relaxed, calm, chill and detached you feel about money the more money flows into your life through your blog because you will have a harmonious relationship with money.

The Lords of Illusion

Beware; society has a very screwed up, fear-based, totally untrue idea of money, believing money to be limited and scarce.

Do not allow the general public’s inaccurate view of money to infect your mind.

It’s only money.

Do not allow your country or government to shape your view of money; governments are in the business of manipulating people through mass fear and scarcity, from the United States to European countries, to developing nations around the globe.

It’s only money.

You are not asking for someone’s first born child, or their arm, or their leg, as a means of exchange for your blogging course. Nope; you’re just requiring a means of exchange called “money” to change hands for goods rendered.

It’s only money.

Remove the stories about money that you attach to money. None are true, save money being a simple, neutral means of exchange.

When you remove the charge from money you will have few issues making money through your blog. As the stories die, so do the fears, and as the fears die, you’ll align with prospering ideas, prospering people, prospering circumstances any…..money.

How to Blog on the Cheap

Cash flow got ya down?

I know how it feels to blog when money seems to be tight.

Even these days I spend more money but don’t have a huge budget for building my blog.

How to blog

How can you build a rocking blog on a shoestring budget?

The first step involves accepting this core truth: if you spend little money you need to spend great time and energy building a successful blog.

Therefore, this brings the question of “How to blog”

1: Give Freely to Receive

Most budget bloggers are cheapies in terms of offering their time to blogging.

Said bloggers have no interest in spending much money on their blogs, which is understandable. But the cheap crowd often makes the fatal mistake of wanting to spend little time learning, practicing and flat out *being* blogging.

If you spend little money to build your blog you will spend a great deal of time and energy over the next 2-4 years of your life learning how to blog, practicing your writing, connecting with pros and creating helpful content.

The split second you blog on a shoestring you need to give as much time and energy as established, pro bloggers, to build your blog on a solid foundation.

Example; if you do not have the budget to hire a team of content creators you need to practice writing in order to create helpful, thorough content frequently. Setting aside 30 minutes daily for writing 1000 words in a Word document takes up a chunk of your time but is necessary if you need to write your own blog posts.

2: Spend on a Domain and Hosting

Blogging on a shoestring means not blogging for free.

Impossible.

Spend money on 1 thing; a domain and hosting. Non-negotiable deal here.

Spend at least $5 to $10 USD monthly – or more – because if you buy cheap hosting you cannot succeed online.

Spend all of your budget on your hosting if necessary. Own your online real estate. Brand yourself effectively. Gain reader trust. Set up your blog for proper monetizing.

3: Learn the Art of Leveraging

I only reach 60,000 folks through Blogging From Paradise.

Publishing this guest post on this rocking blog leverages my presence a bit beyond the 60K folks in my BFP tribe. But I do not stop there. I guest post on many blogs within my niche.

Leveraging is the great secret of bloggers who expand their presence without breaking the bank. Unless you’ve deep pockets to pay for big time Facebook marketing campaigns you’ll need to master the art of leveraging your presence with free methods like guest posting and genuine, valuable blog commenting.

4: Invest in Low Priced Products

I wrote an eBook for a few bucks:

How to Build a Blog on a Shoestring Budget

I packed a handful of helpful tips for budget conscious bloggers into the eBook.

Buy it if you dig this post.

Purchasing low-priced but valuable eBooks gives you helpful resources for building a successful blog on the cheap.

Top bloggers offer a mix of free, low-priced and premium, high end content to help bloggers with different budgets. Some people can only spend a few bucks on research. Drop the dough and give yourself a resource to use for accelerating your blogging success.

Note; even though you want to build a blog on the cheap I strongly advise against trying to learn blogging through free blog posts alone. Imagine trying to get your college degree with free content, mixed and matched in hodgepodge, chaotic fashion? Almost impossible.

Ditto for any blogger hell bent on learning blogging without buying a premium resource or two.

Save money and time by spending a few bucks on resources that cut your learning curve and accelerate your blogging success.
